Each Kaiser can have a slightly different leadership model. At my facility, I oversee approximately 35 direct reports. There is another manager that oversees the other half of employees although we build relationships and manage them all together. Overseeing direct reports entails completing annual evaluation, follow up to ensure certifications are up to date and education is done, discipline/performance issues, and mentoring for professional growth. We also do service recovery with the patients when needed. My favorite part, besides mentoring, is process improvement. As manager, I look for new ways of doing things better and involve the staff in the process.
