I worked for corporate Verizon, not the authorize dealers (franchises like Diamond Wireless, Wireless Plus, Wireless Zone, etc.), with that being said, the main qualities that were highlighted during my time with corporate Verizon were the following: how to deal with pressure both from the general manager and district manager, creativity, communication skills, sense of humor, honesty, integrity, clarity, and always remain positive and handle each situation with professionalism and composure. This job is not for the inexperience, you must have at least 3 years of sales experience to be considered for an interview. There is a lot, and I mean a lot of pressure from upper management each day. You must be able to sell phone lines, tablet lines, smart watch lines, business lines, and upgrades each day while maintaining a high amount of accessory sales. Fall behind on any of these daily sales and you will on the spotlight dealing with warnings, write ups, and potential termination. This is why its very important to maintain your professionalism, composure, and remain hopeful because the amount of pressure this adds can take a toll. Creativity and humor comes a long way. Being able to "think outside the box" in sales while making customers and your coworkers laugh will be beneficial in the long run. Customers are more likely to send a referral to you as well as your coworkers if you can maintain a good, positive, and humorous relationship with them. Lastly, communication, honesty, integrity, and clarity is important. Be clear with customers on what they are signing up for and set the expectations right. You are building a relationship with customers; chances are you will see at least once a month with for the rest of your time there.
