The main sense of ownership comes from the flexibility of hours, as well as owning the vehicle you use and choosing to maintain it and provide extra services (snacks, phone charging). After that, all you can do is turn the app on or off, and you are subject to all of Uber's rules and regulations with no wiggle room. People expect to have the freedom of choosing when, but I think most people would be surprised that they can be really stringent in everything else.

As a driver at Uber there is full control of when and where I want to work. But as driving in Columbus, Georgia, there isn’t much work during the weekdays and the weekends are the only time to find decent work. So even though I can chose to work, I have to go out during the weekends. The pay rate is not so good but it’s better than a minimum wage job.

Infinite, create your own schedule. Drive as you please. Choose to accept or deny trips etc... Only loss of ownership feeling comes when Uber takes its cut of the fare.
