The FBI is non-partisan, so politics are not talked about in the work place. I found that to be a good way to get to know people through their career and personal interests better. All of the FBI agents, analysts, and employees I met were very approachable and willing to answer my questions about how programs and policies worked and why the structure of the Bureau is set up the way it is. There is definitely some ego culture, as the FBI is the federal law enforcement agency, and they have jurisdiction over everything/everyone, versus the other federal law enforcement agencies have specific jurisdictions (DEA is just drugs, ATF is just alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, etc.). Even with that, everyone I met were genuinely good people - you can expect that with the intensive background checks and interviews that each employee had to go through to be offered a position.
