I would say no. The experiences I had there definitely made me a better person and helped me grow, but more in a “I need to develop a useful skill quickly so I can get out of here ASAP” kind of way than a place to jumpstart a career. The only positive thing I can say about the actual work experience is that you will work with and meet a diverse group of people.
Walmart would be a good place to kick off a career for someone willing to work hard and climb the ladder. There’s a lot of room and opportunity for advancement as long as effort is put in. However, it being such a big corporation there isn’t a lot of leeway. There’s a lot of rules and it’s not like a smaller franchise where if something comes up they can work with you.
I would say Walmart could be a good place to kick start a career depending on how you go about doing so. Walmart gives you a lot of opportunity to progress within the company. Did you know Walmart only promotes from within staff and not externally? Once you feel you may have something to contribute to another department, you can talk to personnel. Associates are a core asset/value of the company. If you work hard and show your managers you're committed to learning and moving up, then it will happen for you. You can go as far as you chose at Walmart.
