In my case, BDO flew out all Interns in the Southeast to Fort Lauderdale. The training was three days long in the BDO office there. We became acquainted with the software used on audits. The training was mainly focused on knowledge of software, BDO best practices, and took a cursory look at Audit methodology. We went through a mock audit. The bar is set extremely low for interns as far as their knowledge base goes. In my opinion, the formal training is more to help the curve of learning to use the software and inculcate the intern into the BDO culture. The most effective and worthwhile training happens on the job, preferably in a spring internship.
