It would be useful to provide some background about yourself and interests and then proceed to ask if there any open lab positions that fit it. In my case, my neuroscience lab at Brown was completely unrelated to what I was doing at MGH (immunology focused), which is something I made a point of in my interview as I wanted to branch up and perform research in different areas.

Do any of my previous skills match work your currently look for? Can CNA skills in mother baby lead to a job as an RN there? Do any of my career goals align with any job you are trying to fill? Could work in that position while I finish the required education?

Show MGH recruiters that you’ve done your research on their institution and that you care about the topic you want to research! Express to them what you’d bring to the table, but at the same time acknowledge that this is an incredible learning experience.
