As an Assurance Intern in the summer, we work a 4-day week (M-Th). We are assigned on engagements with an in-charge and we do work that a normal first year associate would be doing. The hours we work are 9am-5pm. We do a lot of account testing and work on excel to verify the accuracy and completeness of different accounts. Nothing is terribly difficult, however there is certainly a learning curve which requires you to ask a lot of questions. As an intern, you are also given some busy work to keep you occupied during your down time. The nice thing about interning at RSM US LLP is that you are assigned to multiple clients throughout the internship. This gives you a chance to see the similarities and differences between companies. As an individual working in assurance, you are expected to travel to clients for engagements. Some days you may also be in the office, but that just depends on the work for a specific day. On Thursday's, all interns are in the office working on a Mock Audit created by RSM. You go through the full process of doing a small audit with the help of a leader at the firm and the help of your team (5-6 interns).
