The main qualities you need to highlight if you are interviewing for the C-130J Flight Test Analyst Engineer position is your ability to develop test procedures, your ability to solve problems and troubleshoot issues, your ability to communicate effectively, and your ability to deal with last minute changes to schedules and conditions. The job of the Flight Test Analyst Engineer is to create a test information sheet (i.e. procedures), perform required/requested testing, and then complete an official report documenting the test results. It is very important to run tests with specific conditions and it will be your job to ensure that those conditions are met, which may include solving unforeseen problems or implementing a work-around. Also, communication is critical in this position because typically the Flight Test Analyst will have to work with a Design Engineer of a particular part/system if an issue is witnessed during testing that needs to be resolved. You would have to describe the issue, ensure the appropriate engineer understands what needs to improve, and possibly offer recommendations. Lastly, when dealing with any flight test program aircraft maintenance and availability dictate the schedule during which testing can be performed. This results in testing being cancelled and rescheduled often, sometimes including last minute travel, so you must be able to adapt.
