How difficult was it being an elementary teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools? Would a former teacher be able to walk me through a typical day please!

Elementary School Science Teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools

I usually arrived at school around 6:30 to prep my classroom materials for the day, as the science curriculum includes hands-on experiments daily. Most non-homeroom teachers had a morning duty when the scholars arrived at 7:30; mine was to stand by the breakfast table to prevent chaos. This was always the best part of my day, because I got to say hi to every scholar, every morning, and receive hugs and smiles and stories from their nights or weekends. I had a quick free period to continue to prepare, then taught two second grade classes and two first grade classes back to back for the next four periods. I had lunch in my classroom while cleaning and prepping, then taught a third grade class, had another free period, and ended the day with the final first grade class. I then cleaned up and did as much prep as possible for the next day, which usually took until about 4:30 or 5. All those free periods were packed with clean-up from messy experiments, setting up materials for the next class coming in, responding to (and logging) emails and phone calls with parents, printing and grading worksheets, making posters, vocab walls, and powerpoints for each new unit, looking ahead and ordering supplies as needed, and practicing the lessons for the following day to ensure experiments ran smoothly in the time allotted.
