Some skills I would recommend having are strong communication between customers, co workers and managers. Self motivation, there is a lot of free time and you have to take it upon yourself to remain busy. Product knowledge within the company and understanding the brands buckle has.
Teamwork is absolutely vital when working anywhere in retail especially at Gap. Inc. When you get a long line of customers or there are multiple people asking for help, you have great team of fellow employees to help unsure all customers get the same amount of help!
To be a successful sales associate you need to be insightful and sociable. Being able to strike up conversation with a customer can really help push a sale. You don’t want them to feel like you’re scripted and only talk to them to make the sale, ask them how their day is, strike up conversation if they have apparel on with a sports team or vacation spot on them. These will help you succeed. To be insightful in this position is to be able to fully understand the reasoning why the customer is looking for a specific product and help them find it or introduce them to the next best thing.
As a sales associate it’s really important to have an open personality and willing to talk to whoever walks in your store. Making connections on a personal level is really
important because it helps you to get to know the customer better and better help them find what they’re looking for. Persistency is also important because even though a customer may not like one thing you show them, they could like the next product.
What it takes to succeed at Under Armour is to be knowledgeable on the products you sell. Whether or not you personally buy the products, you need to know the benefits and disadvantages of it and what they are/can be used for.
