Cashier at The Home Depot

As a cashier, I ensure customers are cared for professionally during the checkout process by addressing any unmet needs. I scan accurately by looking inside and under the cart in order to scan each individual item. Additionally, I try to exceed company’s credit card promotion by asking customers if they want to open a new credit account. Although you work in the front end, you will occasionally get stopped by customers and you will need to assist them. Knowing where items are located, how to use The Home Depot app to the fullest, and knowing how to communicate with other associates allows you to help the customer the best to your ability.

Former Customer Service Representative at The Home Depot

Customer service is big for Home Depot. Anyone walking around wearing an orange apron is to greet and ask every customer if they need help. If I were not able to answer a customer’s question, we would find someone who could and learn together. Home Depot’s main objective for customer service representatives was to directly help customers with questions.

Sales Associate at The Home Depot

Home Depot is all about offering the best customer service possible. For example, if a customer asks where something is and we know, we often walk them directly to the product instead of just telling them. We stock and organize shelves, help clients make decisions, connect them to the right departments to get adequate and excellent help, talk to them about differences and knowledge of the products we order, special order items that can be special ordered, and quite a bit more. Home Depot is all about customer service, though. We do everything we can to ensure that the customer is happy and continues to return to the store in the future.

Former Customer & Sales Associate at The Home Depot

The life of a Home Depot Associate can vary. One second it can be slow and the next it's retail chaos. Being in the plumbing department, I occasionally helped out customers with DIY projects and tried to answer any other questions regarding their plumbing needs. There are a lot of intricate pieces and parts in plumbing that you get to know their purpose over time. What I learned at Home Depot can also help if problems happen at home. I had a leaky toilet and I knew what part needed to be replaced within a few minutes. The best part of the job was learning from former handymen and journeymen at Home Depot. They opened a new world of skilled trade that I had no knowledge of. I was learning what they were taught and even got to know some of the building codes and regulations regarding plumbing.
