Environmental, Health, and Safety Engineer at Arconic
over 2 years ago
We put our interns side by side with EHS professionals on real life projects that are impacting our various plants across the country. Projects will vary depending on the need of the plant, but will likely cover components of Air Management, Water reporting and record keeping, Waste management, Chemical release reporting, and sustainability.
I feel my job as environmental engineer is to ensure regulatory compliance so our manufacturing facilities can produce the product to meet customer demands. I spend a portion of my time at my desk maintaining record keeping requirements and preparing documentation and the other portion of my job on the production floor learning more about the operation, checking in on implemented solutions, and looking for future opportunities to improve.

It really does vary day by day! Some days, I would be focused on my long term project of analyzing the environmental events that occur at the cite, while other days I would perform routine tasks with the Environmental Engineers. Some of these tasks include things like waste tank inspections, safety walks, over-seeing hazardous waste pick-up, storm water testing, etc.
