Cashier Supervisors basic duties involve solving problems for cashiers. Basically, there are 4-5 of us employed at any given store. Someone gets there in the morning and collects money from the vault, sets up all the registers, and writes the break schedule for the day. Throughout the day, we hold keys that can get more money, unlock locked product for customers, coordinate breaks, lunches, and people coming and going, and solve problems with difficult customers. We have more "empowerment" to solve problems for customers, so we can take discounts without manager approval and make other judgement calls. We also have the responsibility of helping coach and train new cashiers or those that need extra assistance. It's important to note that regardless of previous work experience, you have to work at Home Depot for 6 months before you can be promoted to this position.
