Peace Corps recruiters are very interested in understanding your previous experience of the following:
1) International exposure. Do you speak another language? Have you traveled, lived or worked abroad? Are you able to offer concrete examples of times when you have successfully worked cross-culturally?
2) Business development. Do you have experience in project management? Are you well-organized, a strong communicator, and professional in demeanor? Are you prepared for the challenges and project slow downs inherent to cultures where red tape, corruption, and political disenfranchisement can impact an organization's ability to "get things done'?
3) Stress. How do you cope with stress? Are you prepared for feelings of loneliness and isolation as you work to integrate into a new community? How will you maintain connections to your existing support network? What will bring you joy on days when nothing seems to go quite the way you hoped?
