First, I made sure that I identified the professor I specifically wanted to work with and I made sure than I read up on the lab and familiarized myself with some of their recently published articles. Next, I made sure that my resume was up to date and accurately reflected my previous lab experiences and skills I had learned. Make sure you can expertly relate your previous research to what you will be doing in the lab and why you are the best candidate. Lastly, I googled some common interview questions and reviewed these with a friend to make sure I was confident to answer questions on the fly.
