It depends on the manager. I worked about 30 hours a week, on my own schedule, and usually worked from home. My colleague worked in the office, on a set schedule. They all relish a positive work and life balance, it's part of their identity. They have an onsite cafe with Starbucks, and tasty food options. There are weekly meetings to discuss progress, which usually include the intern. They hold offsite monthly luncheon meetings. At the end of my internship, I had dinner with an actor, who promotes Dell's sustainable packing solutions, the company COO, and several VPs. It was a rewarding experience, and I highly recommend UT environmental science students to apply.
