Former Camp Counselor at Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles

In the morning you need to be ON and ready to sing! During check-in, you should be wide awake and super welcoming to the parents and camper so alike...the faster you can learn names the better. Throughout the day you will be either learning and leading different crafts or workshops, and cleaning up as you go.
Another part to the job is delegating tasks to junior aides, who may need more or less specificity depending on their age.
Sometimes you will have to manage a group of very young campers, like 5-6 years old, and then the next you may be leading 11-14 year old. Adaptability is key.
At the end of the day, you have to help the campers with their assigned chores, and be ready to do some work with them, depending on their ability.
