Former Curatorial Intern at Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
almost 2 years ago
Working in a curatorial department is very different than working and learning in an academic department. The goals, concerns, and work methods are all different.
But, having the content knowledge from classes, understanding the vocabulary associated with art history, and being experienced in the ways art historians research is perfect preparation for the internship. I also took a course on the history of display and museums during my undergraduate degree at CAS, which gave some very insightful background to the environment in which I interned.
