It can be very busy or very slow. The time of year can affect how busy you are. Something to remember is that each flight takes time. From the initial page to when you have delivered the patient can take an average of two hours. So having three flights in the day is actually quite exhausting. Vibrations from the aircraft believe it or not are very exhausting so if the flight is long and some can take around six hours for the longer ones. But the day starts with checking all the equipment and doing narcotic counts. Then chart audits followed by an aircraft check and then a daily safety brief from the pilot. Many of the staff have projects and work on them during the shift as well. Then we wait, sometimes the first flight comes early in the shift or later. We have meals together and then can rest or watch TV once all the work for the shift is completed. During bad weather we do not fly and may have to take a trip by ambulance and those can be quite long. We do have days were we do not get any flights. It does make it ideal for studying if back in school or doing other projects
