Mornings at 6am for 1st (morning) shift. You start by getting your patient assignment (6-8 patients per person on average) and then getting a report from the previous CNA for each patient. You must write down when every patient has therapy so you can figure out when they need to be up, dressed, eat, and alert for the day. CNAs are then responsible for getting vital signs for each person and charting each one. Days are often very busy and time flies. It helps to be focused and organized to get everyone in the right place at the right time. Near the middle to the end of the shift is when additional charting is done on each patient.
