Former Student Nurse Extern at Hackensack Meridian Health

Practice, practice, practice is the best way (based on my experience) to prepare for a Student Nurse Extern Position at Hackensack Meridian Health. First, research the organization/hospital! The first question I have always been asked on an interview was "Why do you want to work for ___[organization name here]___. Be familiar with their mission statement, specialties/services offered unique to the organization, and information related to the Student Nurse Extern position as well. Second, I would recommend browsing through and rehearsing some Q's and A's; this can be done by either searching "nurse interview questions" online or seeking out additional resources your professor(s) may have. Third, practice like it's the real deal! I personally found mock interviews at the career center especially helpful, but talking in front of a mirror, recording yourself, or even "interviewing" with a friend are also valuable as well! Last but not least, go in their confident - interviews (especially your first) can seem intimidating, but keep telling yourself "I can do this!," hang on to a lucky charm, give yourself a pep talk; whatever works for you to help you keep your head held high and feel ready to succeed. Best of luck!
