Former Communications Intern, National Portrait Gallery at Smithsonian Institution

Read all that you can about the National Portrait Gallery, from their website to press releases and even news articles on recent exhibitions in order to get an understanding of exhibitions and events they currently have going on. The more you know about Gallery, the better. Take a look at all of their social media platforms and get a sense of their branding and social media "voice" and presentation, too. Also, as part of the application, you have to write a long essay explaining why you want the position and how your previous experiences will benefit you (in the role), as well as the Gallery. Re-read the essay and be able to articulate its main points clearly and succinctly during the interview.
