Registered Nurse at Arnold Palmer Hospital (Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families)
I worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. It was a very intense and stressful at times but also had great opportunities to learn. Our patients ranged from level 1 trauma patients to chronically ill children. Everyday was a different day, even if you had the same patients. On average you would have 1-2 patients, q2hr assessments, sometimes more frequent depending on the diagnosis of the patient. working in the PICU is a very difficult and demanding job, mentally, physically and emotionally. It is hard to describe and average day for a PICU Nurse because it varies so much.
