To succeed as a sales floor trainer, you have to be able to delegate. You usually aren't offered the position until about 3-5 months after starting as a regular sales floor team member; this gives you time to acclimate and get used to the work environment. There isn't any extra pay associated with the title; its more of a recognition of your growing competency. That being said, not everyone is offered the opportunity. You need to be able to speak up when you see a problem on the floor, and you should have the normal social niceties down so you can make new team members feel comfortable - introduce them to your friends on the job, as well as your superiors. Make sure you have enough working knowledge of how things already work so that you can explain them thoroughly and set your trainee up for success.
