Most of the time it is a very fast paced environment, especially during the holiday season. One will work a lot of hours during October, November, and December. However the rest of the year it will very some days are slower then others and some days go by so fast because your are busy all day long.
Being a sales associate calls for time management, organizational skills, people skills and a lot of patience. In a day you are constantly on your feet for 8 hrs and moving about, lifting, pushing, pulling, organizing all while attending to customers. You are also required to finish as best as possible the tasks that are assigned. Most people may see sales associates as people who put the clothes out and greet the customers but they are many operational tasks that are done. If you can function in a fast pace environment without being flustered by the constant shifts that may happen then retail is the place for you.

-all associates must be able to work the register/pos system
-associates will typically be asigned to 1-2 departments as their primary positions, these include: register, customer service, shoes, misses/juniors/mens clothes, home and kids, jewelry, and truck.
-associates are expected to me certain goals for the store (credit and rewards signups) these are higher for those on registers
-during normal store hours, floor associates are responsible for greeting and helping customers with their questions and/or concerns, providing register backup, as well as maintaining a clean department by straightening messy fixtures and keeping merchandise sorted
-shifts before the store opens entail unloading and merchandising the truck shipment these will typically be very early to allow as much time to unload the truck and stock the new merchandise
-shifts after hours will usually be limited to the 30 minutes to 1 hour after the store is closed to allow the team to clean without customers in the store
-pos/register shifts during normal hours entail checking out customers and providing the best possible service right before the customers leaves. Part of the checkout process is to drive company sales by recommending possible additional merchandise for the customer, sorting out any issues they might have had finding what they were looking for and getting customers to enroll in the free rewards program and apply for the Kohl’s credit card
