Former Fundraising & Event Planning Intern at Artists Creating Together
over 1 year ago
Fun! There really is never a dull or calm moment. Any intern would do great in this role if they are looking for something fast paced and very very hands on, interactive and engaging. Staff are flexible in student schedules during the year and find time during the week for all. I would normally come in after my morning/afternoon classes at GVSU in the morning twice a week for about 4-5 hours. There is always a requirement that interns stay and assist in a programming class, in the evenings typically. This was by far my favorite part of working at ACT. Working at any company, you work all day on small portions of projects or putting together ideas for something in a program, and you learn a lot by doing that, however, you don't always get to see the big picture or the full impact of what you're contributing to the organization. Going to class allows interns gain full perspective of what ACT does! You have the chance to interact with the students one on one, build relationships with them and the teachers. No matter which internship position at ACT one chooses to pursue, they will always see the impact of what ACT does for this niche community and for the community of Grand Rapids as a whole.
