Former Air Traffic Controller at United States Air Force

Stressful. As a trainee you'll need to get rated in positions before earning your 5 level which is most likely what you mean by a day in the life. That being said, you show up 15 minutes before your shift. You receive a METAR report, followed by any special events occurring that day. You usually work 45 minutes straight and take breaks with other members. You'll never do a straight 8 hour shift in position. Every facility is different so it's not like a day in the life at one place is the same as another. Plus, there is RAPCON vs Tower controllers. I was RAPCON so our airspace had 12 satellite airports, our base's airport, and an international airport.
