I do think CVS Pharmacy is a good place to kickstart a career. They have a wonderful motto of "GOT Heart", where each of the three letters represent important ways to make a person feel good about your workplace. G is for providing everyone with a friendly Greeting. Hearing "Hello" from a smiling face is much better than walking into a place where employees seem like they don't want to be there or even make eye contact with anyone. O is for Offering help to people. It confirms that you know a lot about your store and are more than equipped to answer any questions your customers may have. T stands for Thanking your customer. This step could prove to be challenging if I could not find what a customer was looking for, but eventually I learned that I could thank them for simply coming into the store. When you say "thank you", it eventually ends up putting you and your coworkers in a good mood as well. Studies in social interactions have shown that showing gratitude can significantly impact a person's overall level of happiness. It seemed like a strange concept at first, but the more I used the "GOT Heart" technique, the more I enjoyed it and applied it to other areas of my life. It helped me stand out from my CVS Pharmacy coworkers for job recommendations. It also helped me with future job interviews, leadership roles in my church and volunteer groups in my community, and communicating well with my school's teachers and staff members. How do you think "GOT Heart" can help you?
It is very easy to move up in CVS Health you just have to want to simply do it for yourself. One of my friends started out as a cashier and in less than 4 years afterwards he was running his own store as a store manager. It is simply easy to move up to be a pharmacy technician, shift manager, store manager and even move up into the corporate level. All you have to do is be expressive in letting your store manager know your intentions so that he could put you on the road to succeeding what you’d like to.
Absolutely a great place to kickstart a career! I personally love my job, its rewarding and fast-paced and makes me as an employee feel well cared for. Especially for individuals on a pre-health track or even students in a hard science who are wanting to do research/work in a lab some day (Many labs work with drugs so pharmaceutical knowledge will set you apart as an applicant). For students who are pre-med, pre-PA, and pre-dent I would say a job in pharmacy will help you more than a job as a medical scribe because you receive all the benefit of exposure to medical terminology and in addition gain pharmacology knowledge.
CVS is a great place to kickstart a career if pharmacy is a career goal. It opens doors for more job opportunities like working in a hospital for instance. If one wants to become a retail pharmacist, working at CVS as a pharmacy technician will help one learn how a pharmacy operates and functions in most if not all aspects.
Working in the pharmacy has taught me so many things including: customer service, working as a part of a team, being patient, and being able to multitask well. I believe CVS is a good starting place because an individual will learn a lot about medications and treating customers to the best of their ability. CVS gave me the opportunity to experience a fast pace working environment while learning how to pay close attention to small details.
CVS Pharmacy is a great way to start a career in either pharmaceuticals, nursing and or any field of medicine. Working in the pharmacy has taught me a lot about drugs, drug interactions, classes of drugs, controlled and narcotic substances, dispensing, and working with a team and being a player. CVS Pharmacy also aids in helping with customer service skills due to having to interact with patients when they pick up a prescription, need help with insurances, prior authorizations and refilling a prescription. Although many insurances are not easy to deal with, working at a CVS Pharmacy will help aid you and guide you into speaking professionally over a phone and in person with someone. You will also gain compassion and the drive to help make sure a patient is satisfied and that you can do whatever you can for them. Working at CVS Pharmacy has really taught me some great knowledge and skills that I will need later on in my Nursing career.
I would say CVS is a good place to kickstart a career, especially for somebody wanting to go into the medical field. You can gain inside knowledge about how a pharmacy works, talk to doctors and insurances, gain knowledge on medications, and rack up pharmacy hours for resumes. CVS is definitely one of be top retail pharmacy’s and will stay that way.
CVS can be a good place to kickstart a career depending on what your career goals are. I have seen several people who start as cashiers and work their way into becoming a pharmacy technician. Otherwise there are other advancement opportunities; you can become a supervisor or the general manager, or go on into other departments outside of the store. I know that several of my co-workers have been with the company for many, many years and they remain in the positions they have had since they started.
Absolutely. The experience you can gain from the retail environment is extensive. From basic cash flow experience to the various scenarios you undergo and witness as a customer service representative, you can really strengthen your skills and build a foundation for any entry-level position with a focus on people and communication. After serving the Uxbridge, MA community for almost 4 years, I built strong relationships with 'regular' customers and learned best practices in the retail environment. This position teaches you patience and opens your eyes to the varying shopping agendas customers have.
CVS Pharmacy would be a good place to kickstart a career, only if one is pursuing pharmacy or any medically related career. Working at CVS Pharmacy will grant you a lot of experience and a glimpse into the medical world, which can assist you in strengthening your career goals.
Personally, CVS is not what I would consider a career kickstarter as it is not what I truly have an interest in for my future. However, there are always opportunities for advancement in the company. If you truly have an interest in the corporate workings of CVS I am sure that advancement is possible and beginning as a shift supervisor would be a good place to start. This is a great company to work for with flexible scheduling, advancement opportunities and great people. If you are more business savvy than I, then you could truly use CVS as a kick start to a great business career.
