Former Research Assistant at University of Southern California, Viterbi School of Engineering

At the beginning, we have a goal for this three-month internship. So, at the beginning, we read several papers for preparation. We did this for around two weeks.
The next step for us is to start to think about the project. In this period, it is just like traditional research process, we read papers all day, test our thoughts. If we have some problems, we could ask PhD students for help. Or we could contact professor through emails. We usually meet the professor once or twice a week. Talks with professors usually focus on our progress or brainstorming for our project.
Above mainly talks about the process for the whole research. As for the day in the life of a Research Assistant in USC, I read papers and test our hypothesis all the time. Solving the problem all the day because we only have few months, and we really want to have some progress.
