Former Seasonal Retail Sales Associate at Gap, Inc
about 2 years ago
I was in charge of helping to restock merchandise clothing, assist customers when needed, and recover which meant to help straighten up the store. My Lead would let me know which sales were going, selling points to emphasize, and in which area to station myself. I also worked with an hand held device which was an iPhone to assist customers to search for a product, reserve merchandise at a different store, order clothing online or even apply for the Gap Store credit card.
A Sales Associate assists throughout the entire process of making a sale, from processing and preparing merchandise for the sales floor, to marketing the merchandise to customers, to completing the final sale at the cash registers.
A Sales Associate at Target will do a variety of things, depending on what department you’re actually hired to help in. As for myself, I was hired to work in the “Softlines” department of the store, which includes all of the apparel and accessories section of the store and infant textiles. While you may be hired to work in one department you will also be expected to be able to run a cashier station, so if the store is in need of cashiers then you may more than likely will have already been trained on how to be one. After closing hours and once you’ve finished cleaning your section up, you will be required to go into other departments that are still cleaning up their section and help them out. Overall, you will be indirectly cross-trained in multiple departments other than the one you were originally hired to work in.
