Most days I would complete the same set of tasks. I would arrive to the laboratory and start processing the samples that were collected from patients the day before. The samples would incubate in a broth enriched culture for 4 hours, and then be plated to select for certain types of bacteria. The plates would be incubated overnight, and the following day colonies would be selected for stereotyping. I would also isolate DNA from the broth enriched culture and run RT-PCR. Once a week we had lab meetings.
