An open mind and a thirst to learn. I know that sounds incredibly cliche, but it's kind of true. They expect a decent, basic understanding of marketing, just so that they don't have to teach you everything from the ground up. They will take the time to teach you the things you need to do, but they also need you to be able to pick up on things. I sat in many meetings that I didn't know what was happening at the beginning, but did at the end. I picked up on words, numbers and acronyms and after a few meetings, I wasn't left in the dust. Like I said, they'll teach you stuff, but they're not going to hold your hand. If you care about the job and show that you're willing and able to learn, then you'll do fine.
