Study coordinators at BCH are responsible for the regulatory IRB submissions, the data collection, and the coordination of the patient visits. Often the day-to-day will vary, but can include any/all of the following: consenting patients (with the MD) to a study, scheduling patient visits, leading patient visits in the research unit (making sure the nurses have the correct orders and the study procedures are followed, collecting used study drug), coordinating with clinical trial monitors that are auditing the study, and working on IRB submissions for new studies/amendments, on top of entering study data into the trial database. CRCs are encouraged to attend teaching events at BCH and to take advantage of opportunities to shadow in clinic or at weekly patient rounds.
