Former Reliability Engineer at Hess Corporation

My current role looks after the reliability of just over 2000 pieces of equipment, so my workload is driven by understanding which pieces of equipment are my bad actors and coming up with plans to improve their performance. I spend a large majority of my time developing maintenance strategies for those pieces of equipment. We are trying to make a shift by going from corrective (fix after it breaks) maintenance to preventative ( routine maintenance prior to failure) and so I am constantly looking for new strategies to predict when a piece of equipment will fail and fixing it before it results in unexpected downtime and therefore lost production.
