Former Assistant Professor, Industrial Design at Arizona State University

The position is very flexible, and it's possible to work from either a campus office or a home office for non-teaching responsibilities. However, if you like to interact with students and other faculty (from several disciplines, not just from ID), then the campus office is the place to be. A typical teaching load includes a studio and one or more classroom courses, so any given day may include preparation and/or grading. Your day might also allow you to work on your research (more time in the summer than during the regular school year) and on service responsibilities. Try to spend time on different parts of the campus, and enjoy lunch downtown from time to time.
