When I held the position it was on contract, so the hours were "part-time." Typical activities included working with professors about teaching and assessing skills and the skills statements included in their syllabi, working with the assessment committee about requirements, processes, and procedures, and working with the academic programming committee about course requirements. Of course, the position was also a member of the general education committee (for all the reasons discussed above), and it served to coordinate faculty professional development experiences for the teaching and assessment of skills.
