During the nuclear technician training, or if you are on shore duty, you will have good time to experience life and have fun. When you are first assigned to a boat, you will have to complete your qualifications, so there will be a lot of work to be done on top of deployments. Expect a lot of work as you transition to a new setting. Here is the work timeline: boot camp to nuclear A school, A school to Power school, Power school to Prototype, and Prototype to the boat. After you qualify on the boat, you will start to have a lot more time.
