First, I would email the professor that you are interviewing with and ask what types of projects they are currently working on and what laboratory techniques and skills they utilize. Second, I would read the last 3 recent papers that came out of their lab. You need to come up with specific reasons why you would like to work in the lab. What interests you about their work? How does their lab align with your future goals? Also, relax! Professors are friendly! Turn it into a conversation.
