Former Summer Internship with the Global Development/Nutrition department at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
almost 3 years ago
First of all, you need to know the Gates Foundation, the foundation mission, its goals and the organizational structure. You can find relevant information about this from the foundation's website.
Then, you should be familiar with the current (the most common and also the innovative) strategies and interventions in Public Health Nutrition, especially those addressing undernutrition at the global level, with strong evidence for cost- effectiveness and real impact.
For the interview you should be able for example to explain in a short time and in few words how these strategies could be applied to a specific nutrition problem, and provide relevant examples. For example: think about the issue of prevention of micronutrient deficiencies (such as Iron Deficiency) among children under five years and pregnant women in low income countries and how this is linked to development issues (provide numbers, statistics!!!).
