Knowing your studio manager/ those you are interviewing with on a personal basis is extremely important. CPY hires people who are active in the studio communities and who take classes on a regular basis.
Preparing for the interview, expect being asked about what “formats” of yoga you teach, your interests in growing with the company, your interests in programming/teacher trainings and your own personal yoga path/journey
In order to apply to be an instructor at CorePower, you must first obtain necessary certifications (either a 200 Hour Yoga Instructor or Yoga Sculpt certification). After talking to the manager at your studio of interest, you will be given a form to fill out and some questions to answer. For the interview, you will teach a condensed 15 minute version of a normal class to a few of the managers, and then answer some of the previously mentioned questions. Overall, they are looking for accurate cueing and knowledge, the ability to connect to your students, and a positive personality and mindset.
I would definitely take the 200hr Teacher Training they hold for anyone who is interested! This is pretty much a requirement if you want to teach for CorePower, just because they have a set sequence that they use for all of their Level 1 classes.
If you've already completed the program and are looking for more detailed advice, go in and be your authentic self. Make sure that you practice teach as much as you can, and can nail the breath, posture, cue formula. Don't be afraid to let your personality show in your teaching, so that you can differentiate yourself and stand out to the managers that will be interviewing you.
I would check out the CPY website and look at their core values and pick out the ones that really align with your personal views. Have a solid answer on why you want to share yoga with the world, and nail down why you're so passionate about teaching yoga!
