I would say that Communication is number one. Be able to effectively communicate with other Account Managers, people in different departments, as well as our Distributors out in the field. If you can effectively communicate everything else can be learned on the job.
To move up within Account Management you need to be disciplined and determined. It's a grown up job and although you have a supervisor, you are responsible for your own work and getting it done in a timely manner. It's all on you and if you are disciplined as well as responsible you will be noticed and will have chances to move up.
