You’ll start out as an Audit intern for about 8 weeks, and if all goes well, you’ll get a full time offer to be an audit associate starting next fall. Then, you would be an audit associate for 2 years (A1 and A2), and then get promoted to senior associate, which is a 3 year position. Then, after 3 years as a senior (so 5 years with the firm total), you’d get promoted to manager. After 2 years as manager (or 7 years with the firm), you’d get promoted to senior manager. After this, the promotions are only to director or partner, so these are harder to get and don’t follow the same linear time trajectory. The great thing about public accounting though is that you always know that if you are keeping on track and getting good performance reviews that you will get promoted on that time schedule!
