Former Lecturer in Equine Science and Director of Equestrian Program at University of Connecticut

My interview was day long and included breakfast, a meeting with the Animal Science Department Chair. I did a presentation about the role of a riding program at a university. Panel discussions with students, equestrian team members, faculty and staff, teaching a lesson, meeting with the horse barn staff, a tour, and a panel interview.
It's very important that a candidate captures both the equestrian skill, and equine science knowledge required for this kind of role all of which requires strong communication and presentation skills. The position also is a representative for the program and department, so personal appearance and ability to work with a wide variety of community members and campus stakeholders is important.
