My internship with EY was in India. Therefore, The experience might differ from an internship in the United States because of entirely different corporate cultures. However, to answer your question, we were assigned to project areas (mine was the automobile industry) and we went through a training session first. So, we spent the first week or so learning about the different tools that EY uses. The next few weeks, we had to do research and make models (Risk and Control Matrix) to help the analysts with their projects. The last week or so, we were allowed to go to a client site to experience how the work is done firsthand.
