Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor AND Summer Fun Club Leader at Oshkosh Community YMCA
over 1 year ago
As a Summer Fun Club leader you either work the opening or closing shift, which is not that bad since the total hours the camp is open is from 6am-6pm. I worked both shifts and neither shifts were that bad (you also do not have to work weekends which is nice during the summer time). The days can feel long and are often stressful and a lot of work, since you have to watch so many children, but the relationships you make with them over takes every negative. You play games with them, go on field trips once a week, go in the gym or outside, and go swimming. There are so many activities for the children to do, so when they have fun you have fun. Although it is A LOT of work , which you need to be prepared for. You learn a ton about communication, the children, and yourself and by the end of the summer it is really rewarding.
