Former Construction Coordinator Intern at Burns & McDonnell
almost 2 years ago
If you are based in the Headquarters you will spend time networking with project managers and working on assignments given to you, mostly by your mentor. I spent time working on drafting requests for proposal, contracts, and change orders. You will also have periodic meetings with other interns and management and recruitment teams made up of employee owners. You will most likely have the opportunity to take at least one site visit. I was lucky enough to get a three week assignment on site of a construction project and work along side the project management team. If you get the chance to go on site or to the field take advantage of them. You learn a lot while on site and experience first hand more than you would in the office.
