The day in the life of an engineering student intern is very interesting. No two days are similar, and it is much easier to talk about a potential week an engineering intern might go through. I would start the week of by traveling to work sites to survey the land. I would collect land elevation data. The next couple of days, I would potentially be traveling to other sites for pre construction meetings, staking the ground, or completing construction inspections with a fellow engineer or civil engineer technician. Being in the field was always the way to go. These work days would be followed by taking that data and designing things in AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Finally, you would do some final calculations and review plans. You can expect to actually be a part of the process and not just an observer.
