Civil Engineer Assistant at The United States Air Force
over 1 year ago
Some good questions to ask would be, what kind of benefits and job security do I have in the military? (Big one)Are there any current sign in bonuses right now for the civil engineering field? What length of contracts am I required for a first enlistment? What preparation can I do before going to boot camp to better prepare myself? Also civil engineering consists of multiple jobs. There is electrical, structures (carpentry), heavy equipment which does all the site digging and paving of roads (machine operators such as dump trucks cranes backhoes), HVAC workers (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), plumbers, and fire fighters and then what I do engineer assistant. Each of these jobs can translate to an outside good paying job and they will give you good skills if you ever get out of the military. I’d choose which job you think interests you.
