Technical Writer (AI) Intern

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer Intern to assist with documentation and content transformation for AI training purposes. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy individual with a keen eye for detail who is eager to contribute to the advancement of AI technologies.

As a Technical Writer Intern, you will help review and restructure existing technical documentation into well-organized, structured content optimized for use in large language models (LLMs), such as those developed within the OpenAI ecosystem.

This internship offers hands-on experience in preparing content for cutting-edge AI systems and provides the opportunity to collaborate with experienced teams in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment. You’ll play a part in supporting advanced manufacturing technologies and companies around the world.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret technical documents, manuals, and specifications across various software products.
  • Rewrite and restructure content into consistent, well-formatted language aligned with LLM training requirements.
  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and appropriateness of tone while preserving technical accuracy.
  • Remove irrelevant or redundant information, plus remove (or hide) company sensitive or proprietary information not to be used for LLM training.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to validate accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and organize finalized content using standard file formats and version control systems.
  • Perform basic quality assurance checks to gauge success of AI LLM training, and/or finetuning adjustments to enhance AI performance.
  • Explore new tools and automation processes to position the business for long-term success.

 

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Technical Writing, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of documentation tools and formats, such as HTML, Markdown, Git, and supporting utilities.
  • Ability to understand technical content and document structure (e.g. user manuals, software specs and requirements, training materials, marketing flyers, white papers, etc.).
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, or natural language processing is a plus.

 

Program Overview:

Vericut's 2025 Summer Internship Program will begin as soon as a qualified candidate is identified and will run for 12 weeks as an hourly position. This role requires the intern to be on-site in the office three days per week, with a weekly schedule of 24 to 28 hours. Our office is located in Irvine, CA near the Irvine Spectrum.
